June 30th Book Porn

Received two Advance Review Copies and one limited-edition signed copy that I had preordered months before. In the first photo, the two review copies are for Brandon Sanderson's conclusion to the Mistborn trilogy, Hero of Ages, while the second is for the US release of a book that apparently was a bestseller in the UK four years ago, Stan Nicholls' Orcs.

Here is the long-awaited limited-edition signed hardcover edition of Gene Wolfe's Memorare, which originally was published in magazine format last year. My copy is #36 out of 500. Don't know if I'll do a review of it, but it certainly shall be read either tonight or tomorrow, time permitting.

Looks like a small but good haul today (in regards to epic fantasy). I know lots of people are looking forward to the Sanderson. I had heard good things about the Orcs book, too (though I heard some not so good things about the Dreamtime series most recently published here. I should give the first book a read sometime and see for myself).

I don't read epic fantasy as much as many others do, but I have enjoyed Sanderson's Mistborn series. Based on the ending, which I read first as is my wont, I think this shall spark quite a few discussions and speculations in regards to WoT as well as for the Mistborn series itself.

So you already peaked ahead and know how the series ends (Mistborn)? Glad to hear you like the series. I have the first 2 books in mmpb and hc (purchased all 4) and plan on start them in september closer to the book 3 release date. I am finding myself going back to waiting for series to be complete before starting them (in most cases).

I usually do it with many books to see if I am curious enough about the process of reaching the end. This is one of the rare series that I'll be reading this year, it seems. I think there's been only 2-3 others, and those being all of Abercrombie's books for the SH review I did and one other, I think.
